Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai launched another exciting Large Format Science Film titled “Australia’s Great Wild North”, at the Science Odyssey facility of the Centre. The film was inaugurated on 29th November, 2023 at the Science Odyssey facility.
The 40 minutes film having incomparable large format images, is an example of merging education with entertainment.
Award-winning filmmaker Nick Robinson and his dedicated team at Wild Pacific Media have spent years capturing the essence of the Northern Territory, showcasing the Top End’s breath-taking beauty, unique wildlife, and the enduring connection of its indigenous people to the land.
Australia’s Great Wild North takes audiences on a mesmerizing odyssey, beginning from the rugged Kimberly coast, traversing the mysterious and rarely-seen Arnhem Land, and delving deep into the world’s oldest rainforest in Cape York. The film features rivers and waterholes inhabited by sharks, territorial buffalo, venomous snakes, and the region’s apex predator – the saltwater crocodile. This prehistoric creature, virtually unchanged for 200 million years, serves as the film’s central character, guiding viewers through the heart of the Top End. You will witness a jungle which you have never ever seen so far.
At the heart of what sets “Australia’s Great Wild North” apart is the state-of-the-art tilted Dome projection, offering audiences an immersive encounter with the mesmerizing landscapes and wildlife of the Top End of Australia. The film’s focal point, the awe-inspiring saltwater crocodile, comes to life in a way that transcends traditional viewing, capturing the attention and imagination of viewers as they come face-to-face with this ancient creature. The film shares the ancient stories of native people, emphasizing the importance of respect and stewardship that Indigenous Australians have practiced for over many thousands years.
We are thrilled to bring Australia’s Great Wild North to our tilted dome projection facility at Nehru Science Centre. This film is not just a visual spectacle, it’s a profound exploration of the delicate balance between nature and humanity, as seen through the lens of one of the world’s untouched wildernesses.
